Venice and end of Italy posts…

Sup people. Back for the last chapter in our Italy tour. Our final stop was in Venice, where we met up with my family who arrived from Finland. The reason was some family celebrations and it was the very first trip outside Finland for my four-month-old niece Aamu. We had booked a larger Airbnb apartment for the whole group. This was really handy as every couple got their own room and the apartment had common rooms and a kitchen for socializing while not being out in town. Especially as Anne and I were already slightly tired from traveling for ten or so days and my family just arrived buzzing with energy to travel, it was nice when we could just hang back when they wanted to head out bright and early.

When we arrived the weather was great

The weather during our stay was unfortunately quite rainy and grey. On the day we arrived it was nice and sunny, but the two following days were full of rain and clouds. Especially on the first day it rained a lot and Anne and I didn’t bother to go out with the others when they wanted to head out into some of the museums. The second day we bought day tickets to the boating services in Venice. It was fun seeing how unique city Venice is, when there is literally no cars and all the streets are narrow as hell and formed like a maze. So, the main means of transportation is by boats. We visited the St Mark's square and roamed around the main parts of town.

Venice was also quite beautiful at night

Third day the weather was getting better and we got some sun. We visited one of the smaller islands near Venice. The island we went to was called Burano and it is a famous island full of extremely colourful little houses. Burano is also known for making of lace and it showed in all the little stores that they had around town. This was a nice colourful change to Venice, which even thou it is unique and beautiful in a way, many parts of the city are worn down.

Venice was an interesting unique experience. Even with saying that I feel that the city rides on its fame and the whole town lives around tourism. Still it was great to see family and get to hear how everyone was doing. From Venice our group split up as Anne and I hopped on our bus back to Graz and my family headed their own ways for more holiday travels.
