Back home in Graz: Meeting with the mayor of Graz?

Hi! It’s me again. This is a quick post in the mix of my larger Italy trip posts. We are now back in Graz. Everything is good and we are going take it easy for at least a couple of days. I will keep posting the Italy trip events every few days and hopefully in a week or so I have all of the posted.

Today we broke our recovery from our travels with a visit to the town hall or Rathaus of Graz. There we attended a welcome reception held by the mayor of Graz. It is a tradition that mayor holds twice a year to welcome the incoming exchange students. All the exchange students gathered in the rathaus and listened to the mayor give a speech. It was a nice speech where he told us that his daughter was doing exchange studies somewhere and she had felt that the city didn’t welcome the exchange students well enough. This made the mayor of Graz decide to start personally welcoming incoming exchange students to Graz. There were also a few speeches from people from the university and two students got to tell their experiences so far. After the speeches we got to visit the balcony of the town hall which gives a great view of the main square and Schlossberg. Then we got some food and drinks and headed home. It was a good experience and always fun to see the other exchange students and to hear how they are doing. That is all for this post, the Italy posts will resume in a day or so. See ya.

Town hall

The Rathaus was beautiful inside as well

Mayor giving his speech, we were on the balcony so we didn't see too well

One of my favorite pictures of the whole trip
